Eastern Cape Agriculture Roundtable The Hague
SANEC is pleased to invite you to this informative roundtable and we are looking forward to meeting you
on the 24th of February at the WTC, The Hague. Registration is open till Wednesday 22 February.
We cordially invite you to our Eastern Cape Agriculture Roundtable; Investment Opportunities for DutchAgro
businesses.
SANEC and The South African Embassy in the Netherlands (The Hague) organize this event for our members and nonmembers to meet the Eastern Cape government portfolio committee and the South African Ambassador, H.E. Vusi Bruce Koloane.
There is an opportunity to discuss topics such as legislative frameworks as well as economic opportunities for Dutch businesses in South Africa. Within the South African agricultural sector, the Eastern Cape Province has made giant strides with the province’s agricultural industry, showing significant growth in milk industry and a rise of new commercial black and female farmers.Areas like Matatiele, Ugie and Maclear have seen sizable growth in new commercial farmer activity in the grain and oilseed agricultural ventures and there remains room for further expansion.
A number of these farmers benefited from the support of organized agriculture groups and private investors
such as Grain SA, and Old Mutual Masisizane Fund, amongst others. Grain SA has been actively involved in
the province through its Farmer Development Program, which focused on training and skills development.
The Old Mutual Masisizane Fund, together with the government, invested about R46 million in farming areas
around Matatiele in 2016.
